With over two decades in publishing, and a resume boasting over ten New York Times bestsellers and many more national ones, Stephanie Land has built a career working with renowned professional experts, thought leaders, influencers, entrepreneurs, television celebrities, and health professionals.
Stephanie writes with an editor’s brain. She started her publishing career at Random House, working with an array of nonfiction, self-help, and business authors, such as outdoor journalist Jon Krakauer, feminist icon Naomi Wolf, motivational author Spencer Johnson, American Book Award-winner Herb Boyd, and cognitive psychologist Gary Klein. Later, she helped launch Penguin’s business imprint, Portfolio, editing bestselling authors including marketing guru Seth Godin, personal finance expert Jean Chatzky, and Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times journalist David Cay Johnston. When Stephanie went freelance, she continued to apply her editorial expertise to books about everything from whale songs to restaurateuring to marriage therapy.
In Stephanie, you get a writer and editor in one, a dream partner who works tirelessly to capture her authors' voice and deliver their promise, all while thinking about structure, story, idea, clarity, and positioning. Her unique skill set, in addition to her easy-going manner, optimism, and sense of humor, means every book project she works on runs smoothly from start to finish.
Organized, flexible, and always respectful of deadlines, Stephanie ghostwrote all of Gary Vaynerchuk’s bestsellers, as well as his most recent title, Crushing It; served as editorial consultant to Shark Tank star and bestselling author Lori Greiner; worked with The Second City on their book Yes, And; and collaborated with Leila Janah, CEO of Samasource and LXMI and one of Elle’s 2016 Top Women in Tech, on her book about ending global poverty, Give Work.
All of Stephanie’s authors have expressed surprise and delight at how faithfully she recreates their voices on the page. Whether editing or collaborating, she takes great pride in guiding them to deepen and enrich their narrative, making their stories, experience, and advice resonate in ways the authors didn’t know were possible.
